Bespoke Storage Solutions for Tricky Spaces
Sloping ceilings, chimney alcoves, box rooms, stair bulkheads and awkward angles are exactly where standard furniture gives up, and where bespoke design shines. We turn the trickiest spaces in your home into genuinely useful, good-looking storage.
Why Tricky Spaces Need Bespoke Storage
Off-the-shelf furniture is made to standard sizes, so it leaves gaps, wastes headroom and rarely fits an awkward room. Bespoke furniture is the opposite: measured and built for the exact shape you have.
That means we can follow a sloping ceiling, wrap around a chimney breast or work into a stair bulkhead, using space most people write off as unusable. It is the same approach behind our fitted wardrobes in loft bedrooms.

Clever Solutions for Every Shape & Angle
A few of the spaces we are asked to solve most often:
Sloped ceilings & low eaves
Storage built to follow the roofline, turning wasted headroom into drawers and hanging space.
Chimney alcoves
Made-to-measure cabinets and shelving that fill alcoves neatly and balance the room.
Stair bulkheads & floor boxes
Furniture designed around the awkward step a staircase creates in the room below.
What We Can Work Around
If it is awkward, there is a good chance we have solved it before.
- Loft conversions and rooms in the roof
- Box rooms and narrow single bedrooms
- Bay windows and window seats
- Under-stairs and stair bulkheads
- Chimney breasts and alcoves
Turn Awkward Space Into Useful Storage
There is almost always a way to make an awkward space work, and we have probably solved it before. Our guide to fitted furniture for awkward and sloping spaces has plenty of ideas, and the same thinking shapes our under-stairs storage.
Tricky Spaces FAQs
How do you maximise storage under sloped ceilings?
We build furniture that follows the slope, with full-height storage where the ceiling is high and low-level drawers and cupboards under the eaves, so no space is wasted.
Can alcoves become proper storage?
Yes. Alcoves are ideal for made-to-measure cabinets and shelving that look built-in and add real storage and display space.
How do you furnish a small box room?
A slim, floor-to-ceiling fitted design works best, using the full height of the walls and keeping the floor clear. A fold-down desk can also turn a box room into a home office.
Can you build a wardrobe into a loft with a low ceiling?
Yes. We build low drawers and cupboards under the lowest part of the slope and keep hanging rails for the tallest section, so you gain storage without losing headroom.
What is a stair bulkhead and can you build around it?
A stair bulkhead is the boxed-in section a staircase creates in the room below or beside it. We design furniture around it, so the step becomes part of the storage rather than wasted space.
Is fitted furniture for tricky spaces guaranteed?
Yes. Everything is handcrafted and fitted by our own team and covered by a 10-year guarantee.
